History

The Igartza monumental complex has its origins in the Middle Ages, but it has always maintained the capability and the will to adapt the production facilities, the mill, the forge and the hydraulic infrastructures to the new times.  In fact, it was the Igartza blacksmiths who, in the 19th century, created the Fábrica de Hierros de San Martín a kilometre downstream, which would later become CAF. In the middle of the 20th century, several buildings were constructed on the site of the Igartza forge by the company Indar, and a new industrial revolution occurred there.

During the first decade of the 21st century, despite the great urban growth in Beasain, the value of the Igartza complex was recognised and it was preserved. It was an excellent decision. This new use brings a sense of continuity, a connection with the past, and gives meaning to the buildings that make up the complex.
